Oxford Men’s Basketball Holds Off Pasco Hernando State College

Freshman Ryan Kwong led five double-figure scorers with 21 points in helping the Oxford men's basketball team to an 80 to 78 win over the Pasco Hernando State College Bobcats.  

Kwong finished the contest seven-of-13 from the floor, including three-of-eight from beyond the arc.   Kyle Brown totaled a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds while Seb Mosso tallied 12 points. Zane Patel contributed 12 points and Eric Lee came off the bench to round out the team's double figure scorers with 10 points.

The Eagles jumped out to early 13 to 2 advantage at the 16:22 mark and had their biggest lead of the game at 19 to 7 with 12:41 left in the first stanza.  The Bobcats went on a 20 to 2 run and lead 27 to 21 with 5 minutes to go in the half.  The score at halftime ended up 36 to 34.

The second half was a highly contested and back and forth contest as Oxford built it biggest lead of the 2nd half to 6 point with 3:53 to go.  The Bobcats cut the lead to two points and had a chance to win the game with six second remaining but missed a contested layup at the buzzer.

Oxford finished with a 43.1 percent (28-65) effort from the floor while Pasco hit on 40.8 percent (31-76) of its attempts.  The Eagles sank eight-of-19 three-point field goals while the Bobcats drained 5 of their 20 attempts

Oxford returns to action on Monday, January 15 when it hosts the Oglethorpe University Reserve Squad.

Game time is set for 7:30pm.
