Eagles Uses Big 2nd Half to Down Bobcats 77 to 48

The Oxford/Emory men's basketball team went on a 29 to 4 run to start the second half to cruise to a 77 to 48 victory over the Bobcats of Georgia Northwestern Technical College.   This was the Eagles first game of the 7th Annual Dennis Spruell Classic were they have an all-time record of 12 and 1.

The win was the 4th straight win for the Eagles to start the New Year and improved their record to 7 and 9.

With the Eagles up 41 to 29 at halftime, they pulled away by playing tenuous defense.  Oxford held the Bobcats to 29.9 percent shooting (20-69) and forced 20 turnovers.  They also controlled the board with a 47 to 36 advantage.  

Sophomore Captain Kyle Brown led the way with 16 points making 7-of-8 from the field. Freshman point guard Ryan Kwong netted 12 points on 4-of-8 from long distance and Eric Lee collected 12 points off the beach. The only other double figure scorer was Seb Mosso with 10 points.  Daniel Liu had a career high 11 rebounds to go along with 8 points.

"It is something about the Dennis Spruell Classic that brings out the best in our team," said Oxford head coach Roderick Stubbs. "Our pressure defense was awesome and we executed on the offensive end to start the second half.

The Eagles will play the 2nd game of the Dennis Spruell Classic on Saturday afternoon @ 4:00pm versus New Rock Sport Academy.
