Men's Basketball Suffers Setback at home versus the Spartans

OXFORD, Ga. – The Oxford College of Emory University basketball team was looking to get back on the winning track over The Basketball Academy Spartans but were doomed by poor shooting stretches to lose 76 to 63.  The Eagles started the game out shooting poorly and fall behind 21 to 11 at the 8:00 mark of the first half.  Oxford rallied and cut the lead to one point with 12 second to go in the 1st stanza but went into intermission down 36 to 33.

At the 11:00 mark of the second half the Eagle still trailed by three points at 55 to 52 but only scored one point in the next 8 minutes to fall behind 73 to 53 with 3 minutes remaining in the game.

With only three games left in the regular-season for Oxford, Saturday's loss puts the Eagles at 10-16 overall for the season.

Robbie Wainio (SO/Tampa, Florida) registered 18 points and 6 rebounds. Ryan Kwong (FR/Oakland, CA.) followed with 11 points on 3-0f-4 shooting from three point range to lead the Eagles.

The Eagles shot 36.8 percent from the field compared to the Spartans 43.5 percent from the field.

On Monday, February 12th, Oxford hosts conference rival Southern Crescent Techncial College.  The game is scheduled to start at 7:30pm.
