Men's Basketball Suffers Tough 76 to 57 Home Defeat to SCTC

The Oxford men's basketball team had a tough night Monday versus conference opponent Southern Crescent Technical College falling 76 to 57.  The Eagles had a cold shooting first half making 25 percent of their shot to the Tigers 45.5 percent first half shooting to trail 33 to 19 at halftime.

The conference defeat dropped the Eagles to 0 and 4 in conference play and 10 and 17 overall.

The Eagles were led on the night by sophomore guard Robert Wainio, who scored 13 points and a team leading 7 rebounds.  Kyle Brown also scored 13 points along with 5 steals and 5 assists. Freshman guard Eric Lee scored 11 points on 3-of-3 shooting from three point range.  Sean Wickham rounded out the double figure scorers with 11 points, 5 rebounds.

"This was a game of runs and they capitalize on their opportunities when we went cold from the field," said Oxford head coach Roderick Stubbs.

The Eagles next action is Sophomore Day at home versus Georgia Highlands.  Game time is set for 4:00pm.
