Oxford Bounces Back with Win Against Emmanuel

HIGHLIGHTS

Oxford, GA – The Oxford Men's Basketball team got back on track with a win against Emmanuel College Reserve Squad. The Eagles used a great second half to propel them to a 87-68 victory. With this win the Eagles improve their record to 5-1 for the season.

The Eagles had 4 players in double figures led by sophomore captain Ryan Kwong who scored 24 points including 7 three-pointers. Freshman JJ Halaby had a productive night with 23 points, 15 rebounds, 8 assists, and 4 steals. Sophomore Eric Lee had 16 points and went 4 of 8 from behind the arc. Freshman Andrew Stanton scored 11 points while grabbing 6 rebounds.

The Eagles got off to a hot start gaining a 17-2 lead on the Lions early. The Lions were able to make a run of their own and cut the lead back down to 1 at one point. Oxford went into halftime with only a 2-point lead.

In the second half, the Eagles were able to increase their lead with a couple of Halaby steals, which led into fast break opportunities for Oxford. Kwong and Lee started to get hot from the three-point line and Oxford stretched its lead to 21 points.

The Eagles shot the ball extremely well in the second half making 53% of their field goal attempts, while only allowing the Lions to shoot 33%.

"We played a much better second half defensively and offensively," stated Head Coach Roderick Stubbs. "Our bench players gave us valuable minutes and hopefully this will carry on for the rest of the season."

The Eagles will be back on the road Wednesday, November 13th against LaGrange College Reserve Squad. Tipoff will be at 8:00 PM.
