Eagles Lose First Home Game Of The Season

Oxford, Ga – The Emory Oxford Men's Basketball Team opened the 2019 year with a loss against New Rock Prep Academy, 82-80. The Eagles now drop to 11-4 for the season. This was the Eagles first game after 30 days off for finals and winter break.

The Eagles were led by first-year JJ Halaby who scored 25 points while making 10 out of 13 free throws. Sophomore captain Ryan Kwong scored 23 points including 4 three-pointers. Fellow captain Zane Patel produced a double-double scoring 11 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Sophomore Eric Lee scored 12 points to round out the night of the Eagles.

"We did not play our best against a very good team in New Rock," stated Head Coach Roderick Stubbs. "We will learn from this, regroup, and head down to Florida to play two tough opponents."

The Eagles will take their annual Florida trip this week, where they will play Florida College Reserve Squad and NJCAA Division II Pasco-Hernando State College. The first game will be on Thursday, January 10th at 7:30 PM. The second will be on Friday, January 11th at 7:00 PM.
