Eagles Grounded In Matchup Against Pasco-Hernando State

New Port Richey, FL - The Emory Oxford Men's basketball team lost to NJCAA Division II Pasco-Hernando State College 95-80. The Eagles drop to 12-5 for the season while Pasco improves to 5-8.

The Eagles had four players in double figures and were led by first-year JJ Halaby who had 25 points and 5 assists. Sophomore captain Zane Patel produced a double-double scoring 22 points and grabbing 18 boards. Fellow captain Ryan Kwong scored 14 points and first-year Jermon Clark scored 12 rebounds and had 12 rebounds.

Emory Oxford was held to 32% from the field including 23% from the three-point line. On the other hand, Pasco shot 49% from the field and 47% from behind the arc.

"We were getting the shots that we wanted in the first-half, but we could not convert," stated Head Coach Roderick Stubbs. "It is difficult to overcome a first half like we had, but we battled in the second-half and I am extremely proud of our guys."

The Eagles return to action this coming weekend in the Dennis Spruell Classic. They will play Georgia NW Technical College on Friday, January 18th at 8:00 PM and then MacDill Airforce Base on Saturday, January 19th at 4:00PM.
