Emory Oxford Men’s Basketball Wins On The Road

HIGHLIGHTS

Brookhaven, GA – In a rematch against the Oglethorpe University Reserve Squad, the Emory Oxford men's basketball team defeated the Stormy Petrels 83-72. With this win, the Eagles improve to 19-7 for the season.

The Eagles were led by freshman JJ Halaby, who broke the school record for most points in a season (662), which was previously set by Oxford standout Chad Hixon (654). Halaby scored 28 points on 9-of-19 shooting including 9-for-11 from the charity stripe. Halaby also broke the single season record for most free-throw attempts (259), previously held by Peter Ricks (250). Sophomores Ryan Kwong and Eric Lee each scored 15 points, and freshman Jermon Clark had a double-double with 13 points and a team-high 10 rebounds.

As a team, the Eagles set the new single season record for most made threes with 255. The previous record was 254.

"This was another big road win for us this season," stated Head Coach Roderick Stubbs. "The guys battled for 40 minutes and we had our ups and downs but we finished the game strong."

The Eagles will return back home on Saturday (Feb. 16) against Georgia Highlands Diamonds. This will be sophomore day for the Eagles and tipoff is at 4:30 PM.
