Eagles Get 20th Win of The Season on Sophomore Day

HIGHLIGHTS

Oxford, GA – The Emory Oxford men's basketball team defeated the Diamonds of Georgia Highlands 84-58. The Eagles improve to 20-7 for the season including 14-2 at home. This win marks the first 20 win season for Oxford since the 2012-2013 season.

On sophomore day, the Eagles were led by freshman JJ Halaby who paced four players in double figures with 30 points. This is Halaby's fifth 30-point game of the season. Sophomore Ryan Kwong scored 17 points, while shooting 5-of-7 from behind the arc. Freshman Jermon Clark had a double-double scoring 16 points and grabbing a team-high 15 rebounds. Sophomore Zane Patel also had a double-double scoring 12 points and grabbing 13 boards. Kwong led the Eagles with 7 assists.

The Eagles held the Diamonds to 31% from the field including 21% from behind the arc. The Eagles dominated the paint scoring 42 points and outrebounding the Diamonds 53 to 36. Oxford also held the advantage on the free-throw line converting on 16-of-26 attempts, while Georgia Highlands finished the game 7-of-17 from the charity stripe.

"The guys played well and got this huge win for the sophomores," stated Assistant Head Coach Tim Terry. "To get 20 wins is a huge accomplishment because not many Oxford teams have reached this goal."

The Eagles will have one final game on Saturday (Feb. 23) against rival West Georgia Technical College. This will also be Alumni Appreciation Day and tipoff is scheduled for 4:00PM
