Emory Oxford Men’s Basketball Ends Season With Tough Loss

Oxford, GA – The Emory Oxford men's basketball suffered a heartbreaking loss to conference rival West Georgia Technical College 97-96.

The Eagles had 4 players in double figures and were lead by freshman JJ Halaby who had a double-double with 32 points and a team-high 11 assists, while shooting 18-for-18 from the free-throw line. Sophomore captain Ryan Kwong scored 22 points while going 6-for-13 from behind the arc. Freshman Jermon Clark also had a double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds. Sophomore Eric Lee finished the game with 15 points including 5 three-pointers.

Halaby finished the season with 724 points and is the first Emory Oxford basketball player to score 700 points in one season. His 18-for-18 free throw is the best single game percentage for those amount of attempts. Kwong finished the year with 117 made 3-pointers, which is a new single season record for Oxford.

"Our guys battled hard today and it was tough to end the season this way," Head Coach Roderick Stubbs said. "This was a special group and to win 20 games in a season, not a lot of Oxford teams have done that. We want to thank the fans that came out today and supported us. It was a truly a great college basketball environment."

The Eagles finished the season 20-8 including a 14-3 record at home.

Halaby finished the season with 724 points, which is most all-time in a single season.

Kwong finished the season with 117 made threes, which is most all-time in a single season.
