Eagles Drop First Game of the Season

Oxford, GA – The Emory Oxford men's basketball team opened up their 2019-2020 season against the Tigers of Trinity College of Florida and were defeated 71-63. The Eagles start the season 0-1. 

Oxford was led by freshman Shane McCravy who had double-double, scoring 27 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. He also had 4 assists. Fellow freshman Myles Johnson had 10 points along with 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Classmate Jack Polzin came off the bench and had a productive night with 9 points and 8 rebounds. 

Ultimately, the Eagles had a poor shooting night from behind the arc only making 3 out of 17 attempts. They also struggled from the charity stripe, shooting 8-of-16. The Tigers also outrebounded Oxford 55 to 42.  

"Our team competed hard but just came up short against a tough team," said Head Coach Roderick Stubbs. "We are a young team and we have a lot of learning to do before we can be where we want to be."

The Eagles will return to action on Tuesday (Nov. 5) against Southern Crescent Technical College. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30PM.
