Eagles Defeat Pasco to End Losing Streak

Oxford, GA - Freshman Arturo Varela led the Eagles to an 83-80 victory over NJCAA Division II Pasco-Hernando State College, by scoring a career-high 24 points. The Eagles end a three-game losing streak and improve to 3-5 for the season, while Pasco drops to 1-8.

The Eagles had four players in double figures including Varela, who was 10-of-16 from the field and grabbed 9 rebounds. Fellow freshman Shane McCravy had his 5th double-double of the year scoring 21 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Classmate Jack Polzin scored 15 points and had a team-high 5 assists. Polzin was also 3-of-5 from behind the arc and a perfect 6-of-6 from the charity stripe. Freshman Thomas Powell also scored 15 points to round out the night for the Eagles. 

"We had a great showing from our team tonight and Arturo help lead the way," commented Head Coach Roderick Stubbs. "It feels good to go into Thanksgiving break with a win."

The Eagles will return back to action on Wednesday (Dec. 4th) against Ogelthorpe University Reserve Squad. Tipoff is set for 7:30PM.
