Men's Basketball Defeats Southern Basketball Academy

Oxford, GA - Freshman Shane McCravy had a career-high 32 points to lead the Emory Oxford men's basketball team to a victory over Southern Basketball Academy. With the 89-74 decision, the Eagles improve to 4-7 for the season. 

Oxford had four players in double figures and were led by McCravy, who shot 11-of-16 from the field and 10-of-13 from the free-throw line. Fellow freshman Arturo Varela had a productive night scoring 17 points on 8-of-10 shooting, while grabbing 6 boards. Sophomore Osasere Collette came off the bench and has a career-high 16 points on 5-of-7 shooting and had 3 blocks. Freshman Thomas Powell had 16 points and a team-high 7 assists. Collette and sophomore Aaron Gerber led the Eagles in rebounding with 8 apiece. 

The Eagles out-rebounded the Lions 48 to 28 and locked down on the defensive end coming up with a season-high 9 blocks. Offensively, the Eagles dominated inside scoring 50 of its 89 points in the paint. 

"This was a good team win for us and a moral boost," said Head Coach Roderick Stubbs. "We have another tough game on Monday against Georgia Gwinnett before we head into the break."

The Eagles return to action Monday (Dec. 9) against Georgia Gwinnett College.The game is set to begin at 7:30PM.
