Eagles Start Off New Year With Victory

Oxford, GA - The Emory Oxford men's basketball team started off the New Year strong with a 101-88 victory over Georgia Highlands College Club Team. They are now 6-7 for the season.

The Eagles had 6 players in double figures and were led by freshman Shane McCravy who had 25 points on 7-of-10 shooting. McCravy went 10-of-12 from the free-throw line and grabbed 7 boards along the way. Fellow freshman Arturo Varela scored 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting while also grabbing 7 rebounds. Sophomore Aaron Gerber produced 15 points and 6 rebounds. Freshman Jack Polzin scored 15 points and dished out 5 assists, while classmate Thomas Powell scored 14 points and had a team-high 9 assists. Sophomore Osasere Collette scored 10 points and grabbed 3 steals to round out the night for the Eagles. 

The Eagles held the advantage at the free-throw line shooting 23-of-33 while Georgia Highlands only went 2-of-5. Oxford also dominated the paint scoring 52 points. 

"This was a great team win for us especially coming back from a long break," commented Head Coach Roderick Stubbs. "We now travel to Florida to play two tough road games against two tough teams."

The Eagles will travel to Florida for a two-game road trip as they play Pasco-Hernando State College on Friday, January 10 at 7:00PM. On Saturday, January 11 they will play Florida College Developmental Team at 6:00PM.
