Oxford Golf Competes in First Tournament

The Men's and Women's Golf team teed off for their fall season competing in the Bulldog JUCO Preview hosted by Georgia Military college on Monday, September 24th and Tuesday, September 25th.

On the men's side the Eagles improved on the 2nd day of the tournament by 21 strokes. The four-man team was led on Tuesday by freshman Nick Paschetto, who shot 2-over par giving him a second round score of 74 and a two-day total of 160. Fellow first-year Ben Wiseman showed consistency in the two-day event carding a score of 82 on both days. Sophomore Alex Grainger posted an 86 in the first round and an 81 in the second round giving him a two-day total of 167. First-year JC Smith rounded out the team scoring with a two-day total of 179.

The women's tournament was shortened to a 27 hole event, 18 holes in the first round and 9 in the second. First-year students Bridget Barnsley and Natalie Mason posted identical scores each day with a 98 and 45. Sophomore Signe Forsingdal completed her tournament with score of a 125 and 56.

"The Harbor Club is a great course but is challenging. I am very proud of the way our players stayed steady and showed great improvement over the tournament," said Head Coach Molly McNamara. "The team has high goals for the season and it was good to get out on the course to compete so that we see what needs to be done to achieve those goals"

Both the Men's and Women's Golf team will be back in action at the Johnson University Firehouse Subs Fall Invitational on Friday, October 19th and Saturday, October 20th
