Men's Soccer Bounces Back With A Win

In a rematch of last Saturday's game (Sept. 29) against USC Union, the Eagles defeated the Bantams 6-2.

In the first half, things started early as the Bantams scored an own goal in the 3rd minute of action. Later, sophomore Jason Welling scored two goals in a span of five minutes putting the Eagles in front 3-0. The Bantams were able to score a goal in the 33rd minute to put them on the board. The Eagles went into halftime with a 3-1 lead.

In the second half, Welling recorded Oxford's first hat trick of the season by finding the back of net for the third time in the 52nd minute. The Eagles continued their offensive attack as fellow sophomores Mishel Drocco and Matthew Beech scored a goal in the 67th and 71st minute. The Bantams were able to score another goal in the 77th minute, but the lead was too big to overcome.

Sophomore Erich Mildner set the single season assist record tonight (11), previously held by former player Norbert Schmeidler (9).

The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday, October 6th against USC Sumter. Kickoff will be at 2:00 PM.
