USC Sumter Tops Men’s Soccer 3-2

OXFORD, GA – In a cold and soggy evening at Bivings Field, the visiting Fire Ants of USC Sumter defeated the Eagles 3-2.

The Eagles got off to an early start when freshman Eduardo Barquet found the back of the goal in the 4th minute. The goal was assisted by fellow freshman Kerri Manoogian. Unfortunately, the Fire Ants produced two unanswered goals before halftime to put them up 2-1.

In the second half, Manoogian was able tie the game up in the 68th minute with a goal assisted by freshman Jack Moynihan. The game was tied until the 75th minute when the Fire Ants were awarded a penalty kick and capitalized on it. The Eagles were unable to answer as the game ended.

The game was physical throughout as 6 yellow cards and 1 red card were handed out.

The Eagles will have one final home game Sunday, October 28th against LaGrange College JV. Kickoff will be at 1:00 PM.
