Men’s Soccer Wins Second Straight

Oxford, GA - In their home opener, the Emory Oxford men's soccer team defeated the Bantams of USC Union 6-0. The Eagles improve to 2-0 for the season while the Bantams drop to 0-6. 

The Eagles dominated the offensive end and was in control of the ball for the majority of play. Sophomore Brandon Simon started the offensive attack with a goal in the 10th minute as he received a pass from fellow sophomore Eduardo Barquet and headed it into the back of the goal. In the 36th minute, freshman Lennox Elrod crossed the ball into freshman teammate George Tsakalakos, who netted the Eagle's second goal. Before the half ended, the Eagles scored when Tsakalakos found sophomore Chandler Cagle who kicked into the back of the net. Oxford went into halftime with a commanding 3-0 lead. 

In the second half, the Eagles started where they left off as freshman Ryan Rohling scored in the 58th minute. Goal was assisted by freshman Parker Morford. Oxford stayed on the attack and was able to draw two penalty kicks. After the Eagles missed the first one, freshman Cameron Barrett capitalized on the second to put the Eagles up 5-0. Morford put the finishing touches as he netted a goal in the final minutes to increase Oxford's lead. 

Sophomore Zack Tuke recorded his first clean sheet of the season and had two saves. 

"What a great game and great showing for our guys," stated Head Coach Moss-Brown. "We played so well together and competed hard to get this win." 

The Eagles will return to action on Saturday, September 14 against Trinity College. Kickoff is set for 1:00PM.
