Men’s Tennis Dominates Spartanburg Methodist

Oxford, GA - The Emory Oxford men's tennis team dominated the Pioneers of Spartanburg Methodist College 8-1. They are now 2-0 for the fall season.

Starting with men's doubles, the Eagles claimed all three matches in dominating fashion. Freshman Michael Ru and sophomore Kevin Yan claimed a 8-2 victory in first doubles. Freshmen Bryce Guenther and Ben Archer won second doubles 8-1. Fellow freshmen Edward Brambil and Colin Xu defeated their opponents 8-0 to win third doubles.

In singles play, the Eagles continued to dominate winning five matches in straight sets. Yan, who played in second singles, won 6-0, 6-0. Guenther, playing in third single and won 6-1, 6-0. In fourth singles, freshman Jeremy Cai defeated his opponent 6-2, 6-0. Sophomore John Funda claimed a fifth singles victory 6-1, 6-0. To round out the day, sophomore Dominick Garcia won sixth singles 6-0, 6-0. 

"Our team played terrific today and to only drop one match is awesome," stated Head Coach Pernilla Hardin. 

The Eagles will return to action on Saturday (Oct. 5) against Oglethorpe University. Matches will begin at 12:00PM.
