Oxford Cross Country Dominates in GCAA Championships

RESULTS

The Oxford Men and Women's Cross Country Team hosted the GCAA Championships this past Wednesday at the International Horse Park in Conyers, Georgia. The Men's 8K race had a total of 19 runners coming from Oxford and Georgia Military College. The Women's 5K race had a total of 23 runners coming from Oxford, Georgia Military, and South Georgia College. 

The Oxford Men and Women's Teams won their races in dominating fashion to claim the GCAA Championships. Both teams have now won back-to-back GCAA Championships. 

The women's race started roughly around 4:45pm and Oxford claimed the top 5 spots. Freshman Emily Elder had the fastest time of the group finishing at 20:14. Fellow teammates Michelle Ly (21:48), Katie Dorton (22:18), Danbi Lim (23:03), and Gracy Lin (23:24) claimed the final 4 spots in the top 5. 

The men's race started right after and Oxford placed 4 runners in the Top 5. Sophomore Alden Aspiras had the fastest time at 29:49 leading the Eagles. Fellow sophomores Justin Burton (30:36) and Harish Venkatraman (31:03) followed right after in second and third place. Freshman Kevin Wu finished in fourth place with a time of 31:33. Georgia Military's Zachary Ansley (31:57) rounded up the top 5 in the men's race. 

"I am extremely proud of all of our runners and how prepared we were for this event," stated Head Coach Ella O'Kelley. "Our mantra is 'One Mind! One Force!' and I believe that we represented that in both races."  

Both Teams will compete in the Bobcat Invitational this Saturday, October 20th. The race will be held at Milledgeville, Georgia and will begin at 8:30 AM.
