Women’s Soccer Falls Short in Season Opener to Georgia Military College 3 to 2

August 29, 2018

Millidgeville, GA  – The Oxford College of Emory University women's soccer team suffered their first loss of the season to the hands of Georgia Military College(GMC).

In a back and forth game, the score was tied at 2 all late in the contest. With less than a second to go in regulation,  Adisa Nwawel(NJCAA Player of the Year Candidate) scored the winning goal for Georgia Military College.

The Eagles started the game out quickly with a fantastic goal by Nadia Dixon and assist by Quinn Paulus.  GMC scored late in the first half to tie the score at 1 all at halftime.

GMC scored early in the 2nd half, but a determined Eagles squad tied it at 2 all on a great score by Quinn Paulus.

"We played with a lot of heart tonight, we gave it our all and I am just glad this is the beginning of the season.  No one enjoys losing the way we did with less than one second to go on the clock, but it was a great learning experience for me and the players," commented head coach Tinna Gallagher.

Oxford is now 0-1 to start the 2018 season and GMC is 3-0.

Oxford returns to action this weekend as they compete at home in the Labor Day Classic, on Saturday, Sept. 1st versus South Georgia State College at 2:00pm and on Monday, September 3, versus Motlow State Community College at noon.
