Emory Oxford Women’s Soccer Wins First Game of The Season

Oxford, GA - In their first regular season game of the year, the Emory Oxford women's soccer team defeats the Hawks of South Georgia State College 1-0. With this win, the Eagles start the season 1-0. The Hawks drop to 1-1.

The lone goal of the match came from freshman Ellen Harnisch who scored in the 23rd minute. Sophomore Quinn Paulus assisted on the goal. The Eagles had multiple opportunities to extend the lead in the second half, but were unable to capitalize. 

Freshman Brianna Chun had 7 saves and recorded her first clean sheet of the season. 

"We played pretty well against a good team," stated Interim Head Coach Harry Kustick. "Our girls competed hard and our defense played great to keep a clean sheet."

The Eagles will return to action on September 2nd (Mon.) against Motlow State Community College. Kickoff will be at 12:00PM.
