Women’s Tennis Gets First Win of the Season

The Oxford Women's Tennis Team picked up their first win of the season with a stellar performance against the Pioneers of Spartanburg Methodist. The final score was 9-0.

Freshmen Victoria Jones and Cody Lu, along with Sophomore Joyce Min all had dominating performances winning their matches in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. Sophomore Ally Render topped her opponent with 6-3, 6-1 victory. Sophomore teammate Preethi Dharmavarapu rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 victory. Freshman June Woo won her match 6-2, 6-1 while Freshman Jenna Shin won her match to round up singles play.

In doubles play, the Eagles gave up only one game in their three matches. Jones and Lu won their match 8-0 as well as Min and Render. Dharmavarapu and Sophmore Delaney Anderson ended their match with an 8-1 victory.

"It was a strong showing from our team today," said Head Coach Pernilla Hardin.

The Eagles will be travelling to New Jersey two weekends from now to play against 3 different teams. On Saturday, October 6th, they will first face Camden County College starting at 9:00 AM. Later that day, they will face Rowan College at Gloucester County starting at 5:30 PM. On Sunday, October 7th, the Eagles will play Illinois Valley Community College starting at 9:00 AM.
