Women’s Tennis Ends Road Trip With A Victory

Meridian, MS - The Emory Oxford women's tennis team wrapped up their Mississippi trip with a 5-4 victory over East Central Community College. The Eagles improve their record to 2-2. 

The Eagles picked up two matches in doubles play, starting with a win in first doubles. Sophomore Cody Lu and freshman Frances Lee defeated their opponent 8-2. In third doubles, sophomore Jenna Shin and freshman Hailey Kim won a hard-fought match 8-6. 

Needing three more wins to clinch the match, the Eagles got two key victories in second and third singles. Freshman Allison Park secured her first win in singles play winning 6-2, 6-3. In third singles, Lee also won her first singles match winning 6-1, 6-2. Shin claimed the fifth singles match in straight sets 7-5, 6-0 to secure the win for Oxford. 

"This was a great weekend for our team to grow and learn from," stated Head Coach Pernilla Hardin. "Our team competed well and earned two tough wins."

The Eagles will be traveling to South Carolina next weekend (Sept. 20-22) to compete in the ITA Tournament.
