Women’s Tennis Defeat Spartanburg Methodist 9-0

Oxford, GA - On a hot Saturday afternoon, the Emory Oxford women's tennis team dominated the Pioneers of Spartanburg Methodist College 9-0. The Eagles improve to 3-2 for the season.

In singles play, the Eagles claimed all six matches in straight sets. Sophomore Cody Lu, who is competing in first singles, won 6-0, 6-0. Freshmen Allison Park and Frances Lee claimed second and third singles. Park won 6-3, 6-1 and Lee won 6-0, 6-1. In fourth singles, sophomore June Woo defeated her opponent 6-3, 6-1. Fellow sophomore Jenna Shin claimed a fifth singles victory 6-0, 6-0. To round out singles play, freshman Hailey Kim defeated her opponent 6-1, 6-0. 

In doubles play, the Eagles continued their dominance. In first doubles, Lu and Lee dropped only one game in route to an 8-1 victory. In second doubles, Park and Woo easily won 8-2. In third doubles, Shin and Kim were brilliant winning 8-1. 

"The girls played terrific today. They all had great showings," stated Pernilla Hardin, Head Coach. 

The Eagles will return to action on Saturday (Oct. 5) against Oglethorpe University. Matches will begin at 12:00PM.
