Women's Tennis Dominates Competition in New Jersey

Pinehill, NJ - The Emory Oxford women's tennis team dominated Ocean County College and Camden County College, winning both times 9-0. The Eagles are now 5-3 for the season.

Starting with doubles matches, the Eagles was a perfect 6-0 for the day. Sophomore Cody Lu and freshman Frances Lee won both of their first doubles matches 8-1. In second doubles, sophomore June Woo and freshman Allison Park won 8-2 in the first match, and then won 8-3 in the second. To round out doubles play, sophomore Jenna Shin and freshman Hailey Kim won 8-0 and 8-2 to claim victories in third doubles. 

In singles play, the Eagles went a perfect 12-0 and won each match in straight sets. Lu, who competed in first singles, dropped only one game the entire day. In second singles, Park went 6-0, 6-0 in both matches. In third singles, Lee only dropped 3 games in the first match and then went on to win 6-0, 6-0 in the second match. Woo claimed victories in fourth singles, winning 6-1, 6-3 and then 6-1, 6-4. In fifth singles, Shin won 6-2, 6-1 in the first match and went perfect in the second match. To round things out for the Eagles, Kim claimed victories in sixth singles, winning both 6-0, 6-0. 

"All of the hard work that our team has put in the past three weeks has paid off," commented Head Coach Pernilla Hardin. "The team played well and everyone was focus."

The Eagles will have one more game tomorrow (Oct. 13) against Northhampton Community College. Matches will begin at 10:00AM.
