Cross Country Competes in GCAA Championships

Milledgeville, GA - Hoping to go for the three-peat, the Emory Oxford men's and women's cross country teams competed in the GCAA Championship hosted by Georgia Military College. Unfortunately, the Eagles did not have enough runners to compete for a team title but they did have some great individual performances.

Sophomore Katie Dorton finished in 1st-place in the women's 5k race, running a time of 20:08. Freshman Grace Johnson finished in second with a time of 21:26. Classmate Sophia Tufariello finished the race in 24:11 which earned her a spot in the top 10.

On the men's side, freshmen Neel Tummala (31:07) and Nathaniel Lechtzin (32:20) finished in 6th- and 7th-place.

"I am proud of each of our runners for competing hard and placing in the top-10," commented Head Coach Ella O'Kelley. "They all have worked so hard this year."

The Eagles will be back in action Saturday (Oct. 19) in the Berry College Invitational. Races are set to begin at 9:00AM.
