Off-Night Grounds Eagles On The Road

Griffin, GA – A poor shooting night led the Emory Oxford Men's Basketball Team to a loss against NJCAA Division I foe, Southern Crescent Technical College. The final score was 80-71. With this loss, the Eagles fall to 10-3 for the season.

The Eagles finished with 3 players in double figures and were led by sophomore captain Ryan Kwong who scored 19 points. First-year point guard JJ Halaby, who recently was honored as GCAA Div. III Player of the Month, scored 14. Fellow first-year Aaron Gerber scored 11 points to round up the night for the Eagles.

Emory Oxford did not shoot very well, shooting less than 40% from the field and 43% from the free-throw line. The Eagles also turned the ball over 18 times, which led to 18 points of turnovers for Southern Crescent. On the other side, the Tigers only turned the ball over 12 times, which only led to 5 points off turnovers for Emory Oxford.

"We did not play well on the offensive end tonight and missing those many free-throws hurt us," commented Head Coach Roderick Stubbs.

The Eagles will have one more game before the Christmas break and it will be on Saturday, December 8th. They will face NJCAA Division II Florida Gateway College from Lake City, Florida. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 PM and the contest will be held in Williams Gym.
