Women's Tennis Dominates Competition

This past weekend, the Oxford Women's Tennis Team traveled north to New Jersey to face Camden County College, Rowan College at Gloucester County, and Illinois Valley Community College. The Eagles defeated all three schools while winning all 27 of their matches. 

Starting early on Saturday (Oct. 6), the Eagles defeated the Cougars of Camden County College 9-0. In singles play, the Eagles won each match in straight sets. On the doubles side, sophomore Cody Lu and freshman Victoria Jones won their match 8-0. Sophomores Joyce Min and Ally Render defeated their opponents 8-2. Fellow teammates Delaney Anderson and Preethi Dharmavarapu also won 8-2. 

Later that afternoon, the Eagles geared up to face the Roadrunners of Rowan College. The Eagles also defeated them 9-0. In singles play, Jones, Lu, and Min won their matches in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. Render, Dharmaparavu, and freshman Jenna Shin also won in straight sets, while only giving up one game to their opponents. Freshman June Woo had a come from behind victory to keep the Eagles undefeated throughout the weekend. In doubles play, Jones and Lu won 8-0. Min and Render won 8-1, while Dharmavarapu and Anderson won 8-2 to round up the day for the Eagles.

The following day (Oct. 7), the Eagles defeated Illinois Valley CC to a tune of 9-0. In singles play, the Eagles again won each match in straight sets. In doubles play, Jones and Lu defeated their opponents 8-0. Render and Min won their match 8-3, as well as Dharmavarapu and Anderson. 

"I believed the girls came prepared to play this weekend and they were fit and ready to go," stated Head Coach Pernilla Hardin. "I am thankful for the effort from all the players." 

The Eagles will back on the road on Saturday, October 20th as they face Spartanburg Methodist. Matches will begin at 10:00 AM.
