The Center for Healthful Living (C.H.L.) has recognized Ayaka Smart of the women's soccer team as the September Student-Athlete of the Month. This award recognizes a student athlete's commitment to the C.H.L.'s motto: Educate the Mind and Exercise the Body.
Smart is a sophomore from Wayzata, MN and is pursuing degrees in International Studies and Environmental Studies. She is a two-year member of the women's soccer team and has assumed a leadership role on the 2022 team while taking over goalkeeping responsibilities. She was named to the 2021-2022 NJCAA All-Academic First Team, which is an honor for individuals who earned a perfect G.P.A. of 4.00.
Smart is also a leader on campus. In addition to her academic and athletic endeavors, she serves as P.R. Chair for the Oxford Climate Reality Project. Smart is also an event coordinator for Oxford Young Dems, a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority for whom she is a member of the D.E.I. committee, and an ambassador for the Emory Office of Sustainability.
