Ellen Harnisch CHL Student-Athlete of the Month for September 2020

The Center for Healthful Living (CHL) has recognized Ellen Harnisch of the women's soccer team as the September Student-Athlete of the Month. This award recognizes a student athlete's commitment to the CHL's motto: Educate the Mind and Exercise the Body.

Harnisch is from Darien, CT and is currently pursuing a double major in Business Administration and International Studies. She is a two-year member of the women’s soccer team, who reached the regional championship this past season. She was named to the NJCAA Region XX Women’s Soccer All-Tournament Team and GCAA Player of the Week in Fall 2019. This year, she is the team captain.

Harnisch excels in the classroom as well. Her academic accomplishments include Phi Eta Sigma Academic Honor Society, Oxford Honor List, and Alpha Upsilon Epsilon Academic Society. She was also named to the NJCAA Academic All-American First Team, which is for student-athletes who earned a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Outside of the classroom and soccer, Harnisch is involved in the community. She is the Co-President of the Catholic Student Union and Vice-President of External Relations for Oxford International Relations Association. Harnisch volunteers at Covington YMCA and Flint Elementary School, assists and teaches elementary and first-grade students. She was a part of the Emory University Model United Nations, where she was a Travel Team Delegate and Assistant Crisis Director.

In the spring, Harnisch was one of the Bivings Scholarship Award recipients, which is one of the department's highest honor.

We are proud to recognize the September Student-Athlete of the Month, Ellen Harnisch.

Educate the Mind, Exercise the Body.
