Emily Freestone named CHL Student-Athlete of the Month for January 2023

The Center for Healthful Living (C.H.L.) has recognized Emily Freestone of the women's tennis team as the January Student-Athlete of the Month. This award recognizes a student athlete's commitment to the C.H.L.'s motto: Educate the Mind and Exercise the Body.

Freestone is from Roswell, GA and is a two-year member of the women's tennis team. She was named team captain this year and led the team to their seventh-straight National Championship in November. Freestone was also an instrumental part of the team winning the 2021 National Championship. She is a two-time All-American in both singles and doubles, including first-team honors in 2022.

Freestone intends to major in Biology and minor in Business and has an impressive track record in the classroom. She has one of the highest GPAs in the athletic department and earned NJCAA Academic All-American Second Team honors in 2022.

When she is not competing in the classroom or on the tennis courts, she is pretty active in the community. She serves as the Communications Chair for Volunteer Oxford and is a founder and co-president of the Oxford Student Lifting Club, OxLifts. Freestone also works as a Biology Lab Prep assistant. Starting in January of 2023, she will be under Dr. Taliferro-Smith's mentorship, performing breast cancer research.

We proudly recognize the January Student-Athlete of the Month, Emily Freestone.
