The Center for Healthful Living (CHL) has recognized sophomore Ian Klenk of the men's soccer team as the October Student-Athlete of the Month. This award recognizes a student athlete's commitment to the CHL's motto: Educate the Mind and Exercise the Body.
Klenk is a two-year member of the soccer team. A native of Niskayuna, New York, Klenk plays defense and is a co-captain for the team. He started all 15 games for the Eagles and had six points (two goals, two assists) during the season. Last year, Klenk won two all tournament/region awards for his success on the soccer field.
He plans on majoring in business.
Outside of the soccer field, Klenk excels in the classroom. Last year, he was named to the NJCAA All-Academic Second Team. Klenk is also heavily involved in music at Oxford. He is on the executive board for Music for Change and arranges music for Oxapella.
Prior to Emory Oxford, Klenk did volunteer work with his church in high school, along with volunteering at the local food bank.
