Luke Sims CHL Student-Athlete of the Month for October 2020

The Center for Healthful Living (CHL) has recognized Luke Sims of the men’s soccer team as the October Student-Athlete of the Month. This award recognizes a student athlete's commitment to the CHL's motto: Educate the Mind and Exercise the Body.

Sims is from Houston, TX and is currently pursuing a major in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology. He is a two-year member of the men’s soccer team, who won the Appalachian District and reached the national tournament for the first time in school history last year. Sims was named team captain as a freshman and was named to the 2019 NJCAA Regional and National Tournament All-Tournament Team.

Sims excels in the classroom as well. He was named to the Dean’s List his freshman year and was named to the NJCAA Academic All-American Second Team, awarded to a student-athlete who earned a GPA between 3.80 and 3.99.

On top of soccer and academics, Sims is very involved in the community. He was the first president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Board, which serves to enhance the student-athlete experience and foster a positive student-athlete image. Sims is also an Executive Board Member of OxVentures, which aims to share knowledge of STEM learning and connect with aspiring entrepreneurs in the Oxford and Atlanta Community.

We are proud to recognize the October Student-Athlete of the Month, Luke Sims.

Educate the Mind, Exercise the Body.
