Eagles Celebrate Big Victory with Picnic

The women’s soccer team took the field on Saturday against Wake Technical Community College and played their way to a 10 goal victory. Nadia Dixon received her first goal for Oxford College on Saturday after a great pass from Savannah Branch, and she added three goals later in the game, scoring a total of four goals. Annie Chappell scored her first goal for Oxford College as well after a beautiful corner kick from Hunter Alspaugh. Sophomore Carson Fleming had a hat trick while Sade Hanciles and Tejan Singh had a goal each.

Coach Tinna Gallagher had this to say about her team’s performance, “It was a great game for us. We came out strong and within the first 10 minutes we were up 3-0. I am very happy that so many of our freshmen are getting on the board, with either assists or goals.”

After the match, the team hosted their annual family picnic in which approximately 50 people attended from player’s families and friends. Oxford is delighted to have such wonderful support of our athletic programs and we are very thankful for the family and friends who are involved with our athletes.

The women’s soccer team will kickoff next against Georgia Military College this Wednesday, September 6, in an away match. A huge congratulations to the team on this big win and the best of luck to them as they look to continue this success. Go Eagles!
