The Oxford College men's and women's tennis programs traveled to LaGrange College on Saturday to open their 2017-2018 seasons.
The women's team had a strong start with each team in both doubles and singles going undefeated on the day. This is exactly the start the team wanted in their pursuit of a third straight national championship. Coach Hardin had this to say about their performance, "The women had a great season opener. We were a little bit tentative in the beginning of our matches. Once everybody relaxed everyone played strong. All the hard work in the preseason really paid off for the girls today."
The men's program lost their opener 3-6 with victories coming from Cabral and McCarthy (doubles), McCarthy, and Coston (singles). Coach Hardin had this to say about their performances, "The men had some really good matches as well. Our number one team came up big saving two match points and ended up winning the match. We have matches Friday Saturday and Sunday next week."
