Oxford Tennis Completes Successful Weekend

Oxford Tennis Completes Successful Weekend

The Oxford College tennis teams are in full swing for their season and it showed during a busy weekend in which both the men's and women's teams had two matches each. On Saturday, the men faced Gadsden State in their second match of the season and showed signs of greatness with a 9-0 victory. This success transitioned into Sunday's matches where the men beat a tough opponent in Piedmont College by a score of 5-4. Notable men's standouts from the weekend included Guillermo Cabral and Tate Coston who both went undefeated in every singles and doubles match that they competed in over the weekend.

The women also showed their great strength in a 6-3 victory over Piedmont College. Notable contributors were Sophomore Caroline Kawula who won both of her matches, and freshmen Ally Render and Emeline Ruvinksy who both made a comeback in their singles matches after losing their first sets.

Coach Hardin had this to say about her teams performance, "As you can see from the scores it was a great effort of the whole team today. Allie and Emeline turned their matches around after losing the first set. That was very important in order for us to win today. Caroline dominated at one singles and one doubles today. The men also had a big win today, 5 to 4. All the boys battled hard and were able to get five points, winning two out of three doubles matches was key for us today. Guillermo, Tate, and Alex had big wins at singles. It was important for both teams to win two of the three doubles today and they accomplished that task."

The Eagles will travel to Tifton, Georgia next weekend to participate in the ITA Tournament against some great competition. Be sure to congratulate them on a victorious weekend and cheer them on at the ITA Tournmanet. Go Eagles!
