Eagles Topple the Lions of Emmanuel Univ. JV 78 to 53

Sophomore Robbie Wainio scored 21 points in helping the Oxford/Emory men's basketball team to a Friday night win at home 78 to 53.  The Eagles raised their overall record to 9 and 10.

Oxford started the game out fast and lead 18 to 8 at the 12:10 mark of the 1st half before the Lions had a comeback and tied the score at 21 all at the 6:19 mark.  The Eagles took a 37 to 31 lead into intermission.

Oxford defense allowed only 6 made field goals in the second half and the cold shooting Lions could only muster 22 points in the 2nd half. 

The Eagles made 27 of 62 field goals for 43.5 percent for the game while the Lions made only 18 of 58 shots for 31.0 percent.

One of the major differences in the game was in the number of free throws made.  The Eagles made 23 of 29 for a 79.3 percent and the Lions only converted on 13 of 31 attempts for 41.9 percent.

Seb Mosso produced 13 points and 5 rebounds while Kyle Brown had a solid night with 8 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists.  Dontavious Holmes had a strong night off the bench with 8 points and 6 rebounds.

Oxford has a short turn around as they return to action on Saturday (Jan. 27) when it travels to Georgia Northwestern Technical College for a 5:00pm start.
