Emory Oxford Men's Basketball Bounce Back with Dominating Victory

Oxford, GA - The Emory Oxford men's basketball team used a strong second half to defeat the Reinhardt University reserve team 93-57. The Eagles improve to 5-2. 

Emory Oxford had five players in double figures, led by sophomore Nick Nist, who scored 17 points on 6-of-8 shooting and 5-of-5 from the free-throw line. Fellow sophomores Dante Conley-Leonardi and Joonha Ko each scored 12 points. Freshman Sean Osei scored 11 points, while classmate Justin Whitening scored 10 points. Conley-Leonardi grabbed a team-high eight rebounds. Three Eagles each had five assists. 

In the first half, the Eagles found themselves down early and struggled to put points on the board. However, the Eagles did manage to take the lead and they did not look back. The game was close for much of the first half, but Emory Oxford went into halftime with a nine-point advantage. 

In the second half, the Eagles found their rhythm as they connected on five of their 7 made three-pointers in this half. The Eagles held Reinhardt to only 24 points in this period and had a lead as large as 31 points. 

For the game, the Eagles shot 65.0% (39-of-60) from the field, while Reinhardt only shot 28.4% (21-of-74). The Eagles had a season-high 25 assists in this game. Emory Oxford held the advantage inside, outscoring Reinhardt 58 to 26 in the paint. 

"This was a good team win and a good way to bounce back," commented Coach Roderick Stubbs. "We executed well and played good defense in the second half. Now we look to a tough conference game in North Carolina." 

The Eagles will go on the road to face the Cougars of Central Carolina Community College. This will be their first conference game of the year. The game is on Saturday, November 20th at 2:00 PM.
