Stormy Petrels Down Emory Oxford in Crosstown Matchup

Atlanta, GA - The Emory Oxford men's basketball team traveled across town to face off against the Stormy Petrels of the Oglethorpe University Reserve Team. The Eagles fell 71-60 and are now 5-9 for the season.

Sophomore Kabir Bergin had a career day, scoring 23 points to go along with nine rebounds. He shot 10-of-14 from the field, including 2-of-4 from behind the arc. Freshman Nick Hardin was the only other Eagle to score in double digits with 12 points. He also grabbed ten rebounds to secure his first double-double of the year. Classmate KJ Walker led the Eagles with six assists.

The turning point came in the second half, with the score tied at 41 apiece. From there, Emory Oxford went cold from the field as the Stormy Petrels went on a 20-2 run, gaining their largest lead of the game. This proved to be too difficult for the Eagles to come back from, eventually falling 71-60.

The Eagles will be back on the road as they travel up to Virginia to play Dabney S. Lancaster Community College in back-to-back conference games. The first game will be on Saturday at 3:00 PM and the second will be on Sunday at noon.
