Eagles Snap Losing Streak With 63-46 Victory

Clifton Forge, VA - The Emory Oxford men's basketball defeated the Roadrunners of Dabney S. Lancaster Community College 63-49, snapping a 7-game losing streak. The Eagles improve to 6-9, including 1-4 in conference play. On the other hand, the Roadrunners drop to 10-7 and 0-4 in the conference.

The Eagles were led by sophomore Kabir Bergin, who scored 16 points and had a team-high four assists and three steals. Freshman Isaac Snyder came off the bench and produced a double-double with 12 points to go with fifteen rebounds. Sophomore JT Laws scored a career-high 10 points.

The Roadrunners had a strong first half, making 5-of-15 threes to gain a 33-29 advantage going into the break. However, a good defensive showing from the Eagles held Dabney to 3-of-23 (13%) shooting, including 1-11 (9.1%) from three, in the second half. They held Dabney to only 13 points in the final 20 minutes of regulation. The Eagles dominated inside, outscoring the Roadrunners 40-12 and holding a 46-27 rebounding advantage.

"This was a good team win for us," said Coach Roderick Stubbs. "To be able to get a conference win without some of our key players is big. Our players stepped up and got this victory."

The Eagles will play the Roadrunners again tomorrow, January 23rd, at noon.
