Men's Basketball Bounce Back with Road Win

Mount Vernon, GA - The Emory Oxford men's basketball team bounced back with a 77-52 victory over the Barons of Brewton Parker College Reserve Team. The Eagles improved to 10-10 in the season. 

Five Eagles led the way in double figures, with sophomore Nick Nist scoring a team-high 16 points while shooting 10-of-12 from the free-throw line. Fellow sophomore Dante Conley-Leonardi scored 15 points to go along with nine rebounds. Classmate Kabir Bergin had a solid showing with 12 points and nine rebounds as well. Freshman Nick Hardin recorded his second double-double with 12 points and ten boards. Sophomore Joonha Ko came off the bench and scored 11 points. 

Emory Oxford recorded 20 assists on twenty-three made field goals and dominated the rebounding category 52-33. The Eagles also shot 78.1% (25-of-32) from the charity stripe. On the defensive end, the Eagles held the Barons to 25.7% (18-of-70) from the field, including 12.9% (4-of-31) from three. 

The Eagles got off to a slow start in the opening half falling behind due to turnovers. However, they got into a rhythm and had a ten-point lead with 2:48 to go before halftime. They eventually went into the break with a 32-25 advantage. In the second half, the Eagles opened with a 13-2 run to build an 18-point advantage and held this lead for the rest of the game. 

The Eagles will have one final regular-season road game on Saturday, February 5th, as they play nationally-ranked Sandhills Community College. This will be their last conference game of the regular season and tipoff is set for 1:00 PM.
