Men's Basketball Concludes Season In Regional Semi-Finals

The Emory Oxford men's basketball team played their last game of the season against Central Carolina Community College in the semi-finals of the Region 10/17 Tournament. The Eagles lost 83-62. The Cougars will compete against Sandhills Community College on Friday (Feb. 18) for the championship. 

Sophomore Dante Conley-Leonardi was the lone Eagle in double figures with 17 points. Classmates Kabir Bergin and Nick Nist scored nine and eight points, while freshman Justin Whitening contributed seven points. 

The Cougars opened up the game with a pair of threes and a layup to go up 8-0 early on. They would hold a sizeable advantage for most of the half. With the score 24-13 in favor of Central Carolina, the Eagles would use a 17-10 run to bring themselves within four points at halftime. At the start of the second half, the Cougars made another 8-0 run and would build on this lead. The Eagles would struggle to score and could not fight their way back into the game. They would end up losing 83-62.  

The Eagles finish the 2021-2022 season with a 13-12 win-loss record, including 3-7 in region play.
