Men's basketball defeated by Action Sports Academy

Oxford, Ga. - The Emory Oxford men's basketball team was defeated by Action Sports Academy by a score of 74-69 on Monday evening.

The Eagles quickly built on a lead at the start of the game, leading by 11 halfway through the first. The team consistently made their free throws and field goals, including steals from freshman Michael Hoppner and sophomore Josh Kim, to take a 20 point lead into halftime.

Action Sports Academy began chipping away at the lead in the second, while the Eagles took nearly three minutes into the half to score. With around 12 minutes remaining in the game, Action Sports Academy made two three-point goals within minutes of each other to cut the lead and bring the team to within eight. They took the lead with eight minutes left and remained on top until the end.

Josh Kim finished the game with 22 points. Sophomores Ryan Kim and Anthony Vargas added 16 and 14 points. Hoppner finished the game with eight rebounds and three blocks.

Emory Oxford's next game is on the road Wednesday, Jan. 31 against Reinhardt University Reserve Squad. Game time is set for 8 p.m.
