Men's basketball defeats Southern Basketball Academy 78-73

The Emory Oxford men's basketball team defeated Southern Basketball Academy at home by a score of 78-73.

Both teams played evenly to start out the game before the Eagles started to build a lead early in the first before SBA came back to tie with less than seven minutes remaining. With less than a second left in the half and down by two, sophomore Devin Shu was fouled on a three-pointer and was able to make two out of the three shots to tie the game at 35.

After some back and forth early in the second, sophomore Josh Kim made a layup to put the home team up by one and the Eagles held the lead for the rest of the game. The largest lead Emory Oxford held was 10 points toward the end of the half. Sophomore Ryan Kim made two free throws with 30 seconds left in the second to put the Eagles up by five. The Lions missed two three-pointers with seconds remaining to secure the win for the home team.

Sophomore Zuri Greene led Emory Oxford with 26 points and 14 rebounds. Ryan Kim added 22 points. Freshman Daniel Shin had 11 points for the Eagles and classmate Michael Hoppner had seven rebounds. 

The Eagles will travel for their next game to take on Mountain Gateway Community College on Sunday. Feb. 11. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
