Men's basketball defeated on Sophomore Day

Oxford, Ga. - The Emory Oxford men's basketball team fell to the visiting Georgia Christian Community College on Sophomore Day by a score of 84-71.

The Eagles held a 17-9 lead early before Georgia Christian came back to take a lead with less than five minutes remaining. Sophomore Ryan Kim stole the ball and made a pass to fellow sophomore Zuri Greene who was able to make a layup to put the home team back on top. Minutes later, Kim made a three-pointer, putting the Eagles up by six. Emory Oxford held on to a 37-34 lead heading into halftime.

In the second half, the visitors were able to build a nine point lead midway through. The Eagles were able to come back within one point twice, on three-pointers from Greene and freshman Daniel Shin, but were unable to take the lead.

Greene led the Eagles with 25 points and 11 rebounds. Kim scored 17 points. Freshman Michael Hoppner had four blocks.

The Eagles will now wait to see who they face in regionals this weekend.
