Men's Golf Competes in First Fall Tournament

Anderson, SC - The Emory Oxford men's golf team competed in their first event at the Bruins Golf Classic. The two-day tournament was played at Cobb's Glenn Country Club and was hosted by Bob Jones University. The course was a par 72 and playing just over 7000 yards.

The Eagles were led by first-year Sachin Bhasinwho recorded an overall score of 159 (82, 77).

"All our athletes were competing in their first collegiate tournament and some of them haven't played tournament golf in a while, so it was nice to get some competitive rounds in," commented Coach Molly McNamara. "Our focus for the year is to be prepared for the regional tournament in April, so we want to learn from each round and understand what each player needs to do to be properly prepared for each tournament. The course was long with very few scoring opportunities and that was reflected in the scores of all the teams at the tournament. Our four counting scores improved from day 1 to day two, showing the men were more comfortable with the course. While no one was extremely happy with their scores, there are a good number of positives that came from the tournament rounds and it served as a good learning experience for everyone."

The Eagles have one more event this fall in Rome, GA. That tournament will be on October 25-26.
