Late Goal Gives Eagles the Win Over Andrew College

Oxford, GA - A last-minute goal by freshman Kenneth Kleiman pushed the Eagles to a 4-3 victory over the Fighting Tigers of Andrew College. The Eagles improve to 4-2-2 for the season while Andrew drops to 1-10-3.

In the first half, the Eagles jumped to an early lead when sophomore Evan Yang found classmate Artemy Ivanov who netted his fifth goal of the year. However, the Fighting Tigers scored two goals in the 13th and 17th minutes to take a 2-1 lead. In the 30th minute, the Eagles drew a penalty in the box, leading to Yang's third goal. The Fighting Tigers quickly answered and took a 3-2 lead into halftime.

In the 48th minute, the Eagles tied the game with a direct corner kick from freshman Maxwell Shumay. This was his first goal of the year. With the game tied at 3-3, the game was a deadlock until the final minute of the game. Sophomore Luke Isler passed the ball to Kleiman, who scored his first goal of the year.

"This was an exciting game to watch and coach," commented Head Coach Greg Moss-Brown. "Our players kept fighting to the end and it paid off."

Earlier this week, the Eagles qualified for the District Tournament in Maryland, which will begin next Friday, October 29th. More information will come at a later date.

The Eagles will have sophomore night on Friday, October 22nd. They will be competing in an exhibition game against Emory Oxford alumni.
