Men's Soccer Ends Season in District Championship Game

Arnold, MD - The Emory Oxford men's soccer team concluded their season after a 2-0 loss to the Riverhawks of Anne Arundel Community College in the South District Championship game. The game was initially scheduled to start at 1:00 PM. However, due to heavy rain the day before, the game was moved to 4:00 PM.

In the first half, the Riverhawks struck first in the 10th minute when Sam Adams scored his second goal of the season. In the 18th minute, the Eagles had an opportunity to answer when freshman Ryan Scholte put a shot on goal but was saved by the Riverhawks' goalie. The Riverhawks scored their second goal in the 24th minute. They went into the break with a 2-0 lead.

Early in the second half, the Eagles' Artemy Ivanov, Ashwin Giri and Kenneth Kleiman had opportunities to score but Anne Arundel's goalie game up with the saves. This was the story of the second half as Emory Oxford continued to put shots on goals but were unable to capitalize. In total, the Eagles had nine shots on goal, the same for the Riverhawks.

The Eagles conclude the season 4-3-2, while the Riverhawks (8-6) advance to the National Tournament.
