Emory Oxford Men's Soccer Falls Short in Tough Battle Against Jones College

The Eagles Men's Soccer team suffered a tough 2-1 defeat to the #5 ranked NJCAA Division II Jones College on Friday night. The Eagles put up a strong fight despite losing a closely contested match.

Jones College was very aggressive pressing early in the match and seeking to assert control of the game, however, the Eagles maintained their composure and the score remained 0-0 at halftime.

The Eagles responded in the 2nd half with stronger play but eventually fell behind when Jones College scored on a beautiful goal off a free kick to the upper 90. Jones scored again moments later to make it 2 to 0.

Around the 60th minute mark in the 2nd half, the Eagles changed to high pressure and started to see some success. The Eagles started to take over the game and at the 75-minute mark Will Farthing scored to make it 2-1.

The Eagles continued to press with a high tempo and gave themselves several opportunities to score but came up just a little short.

Coach Gregory Moss-Brown praised the team's performance, "It was a great first game and eye opener to how good a team we can eventually become. I'm proud of how our guys fought tonight."

The Eagles are right back at it on Saturday, vs Southwest Mississippi Community College in Birmingham, AL. Game time is set for 4:00pm.
